I really appreciate this conversation. I just finished a course in seminary about missions in which evangelism was defined as everything but telling people about Jesus. I understand the aversion, but we should be led by a vision of Biblical and healthy evangelism rather than abuses of it.

It’s encouraging to hear someone who acknowledges the challenges of evangelism but doesn’t abandon the role of “evangelist”.

Thanks for taking the time to read this! I really realize this is a complex topic in our time, and hopefully I didn’t convey it as simplistic.

I agree that the work of an “evangelist” is never going to become obsolete- my point, simply, is that the Great Commandment can never be neglected in the name of conveying the message.
